VENUES
The 1998 ASIAN Games will be held at number of venues to accommodate the many sporting events. The majority of these will be at three main locations namely, Hua Mark Sports Complex, Thammasat University Rangsit Campus and Muang Thong Thani Sports Complex.
Other venues will be the National Stadium at Pathumwan, Asian Institute of Technology and Rajamangala Institute of Technology at Pathumthani, Bangkok Metropolitan Youth Center at Din Dang, Kasetsart University, Saravitaya School, Thupataemee Stadium and the stadiums at Ayutthaya and Suphanburi for football; Rajamangala Institute of Technology for baseball; Pattaya for beach volleyball; Sattahip Bay and Jomtien Beach for yachting; Rama IX Reservoir at Pathumthani for canoeing and rowing; Royal Horse Guards Association in Bangkok and Fort Adisorn Riding Club in Saraburi for equestrian; the highway between Bangkok and Nakornrachasrima for cycling road races and time trials; Kao Yai National Park for mountain bike; Srinakarinvirot University for handball, softball and kabaddi; Royal Thai Army Stadium for rugby football; hockey at the stadium at 6th Klong, Pathumthani; Ambassador City, Chonburi for squash. This is the location for The Games Village and also the venue for archery, athletics, badminton, basketball,fencing, handball, judo, karatedo, softball, soft tennis, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, wrestling and washu. It is located a few miles north of Don Muang International Airport. The Organising Committee for the 13th Asian Games is providing a range of facilities, in addition to those already existing, so that visitors to the venue can enjoy good food and refreshments and shop for Games souvenirs. This integrated sports complex, which has the main stadium for the Asian Games, the cycling velodrome, multi-purpose indoor stadium and shooting range, is located in the Eastern suburbs of Bangkok. The surrounding area is mainly residential with two universities and a popular shopping area. Getting to Hua Mark is easy as it is served by many bus services and the new electric rail system. The Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be held here as well as cycling, football, shooting and sepak takraw. Within the sports complex and nearby, there will be many outlets for dining, celebrating and shopping for Asian Games souvenirs. Back to the Top

 

This is another brand new sports facility built specially for the 1998 Asian Games. It will be the venue for these eight sports: rugby, volleyball, boxing, weight-lifting, snooker and billiards, gymnastics and tennis.This sports complex is located between the city centre and Don Muang International Airport in a 'new city' real estate development. It is well-served by public transport including buses and the new electric rail system.As it is located in a comprehensive real estate development, there are many eating, entertainment and shopping facilities within easy walking distance.
